Dr. Grant is a native Californian, born and raised in Los Angeles. As is probably true for most lifetime animal enthusiasts, she was on the path to becoming a veterinarian (or at least spending her life working with animals) before she knew that such a career existed. She has cared for every type of animal from tarantulas, ducks and snakes, to the typical dog and cat. Her love of animals was passed to her from her father who grew up on a farm in Virginia and, because of health issues, had to drink goat milk during his childhood. In his adult years, he took on the career of school teacher and was very good at the education of science because of his passion for animals. He would hatch ducks and chickens in an incubator for his classes, educating them about the stages of embryo development throughout the process. In those days, during her childhood, Dr. Grant made sure to always be front and center to help him in his presentations for his classes.
After travelling back east to attend college at Duke University, North Carolina and graduating in 1992, she went on to Veterinary School at Tuskegee University, School of Veterinary Medicine in Tuskegee, Alabama. She graduated cum laude in 1998 and, enrolled in residency at Louisiana State University Veterinary Medical School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. For three years she studied pocket pets, cats and dogs, and small livestock. It was there that she got her Master of Science in Veterinary Medical Sciences in the study of Coronaviruses, completed in 2002. After moving to California, she worked as a relief veterinarian at Angeles City Pet Hospital, VCA Burbank, PetsMart Banfield of Brea, Raymond Avenue Pet Hospital, and The Rosecrans Pet Hospital.

In 2006, Dr. Grant came to The Rosecrans Pet Hospital as the Medical Director. Since her arrival, Dr. Grant has continuously worked in conjunction with the entire administrative team to increase the diversity and the quality of the services offered as part of in-house care. She is a tireless educator because she understands that it is only by client education and involvement that optimum animal health can be achieved. The human-animal bond can only be strengthened by understanding and intuition. These are the tools we have been given and it is up to us as animal enthusiasts to build upon them, sharpen them and use them for the betterment of our best friends, the animals that enrich our lives. Dr. Grant is a compassionate healer for her patients and a vigilant advocate for the health of the entire family. She is part of the development team responsible for the high standard of care that has been set at The Rosecrans Pet Hospital. She is a great clinician with great bedside manner. We at The Rosecrans Pet Hospital are very happy to have her on our team.
